Stained glass returned to St Giles in the 1870s, after the medieval windows were lost to the Reformation. Highlights include the heraldic glass of the Thistle Chapel (1910) by Louis Davis with an east window by Douglas Strachan, Strachan’s north transept window of 1922 showing Christ stilling the storm, four Scottish saints by Karl Parsons (1915), and the Robert Burns memorial window (1985) by the Icelandic artist Leifur Breidfjörð.
