Stourbridge and the neighbouring towns of the Black Country were one of the main centres of English glassmaking from the seventeenth century. The Stourbridge Glass Museum at Wordsley holds the Stourbridge Glass Collection, about 10,000 pieces from local factories dating from the seventeenth to the twentieth century.

The collection is especially useful for seeing how engraved and brilliant cut glass were developed for tableware and display pieces, techniques that also lie behind the decorative panels, mirrors and windows made for Victorian pubs, shops and houses. Visitors interested in glass used in architecture can combine it with Wightwick Manor, a short drive away.
