Celtic design is built on interlaced knotwork, spirals and crosses, patterns that first appeared in early medieval manuscripts and carved stone and were revived in the nineteenth century. In glass the continuous lines suit the grid of leaded lights and the carved effect of sandblasted glass, and they turn up in churches, memorials and homes. The photographs below show Celtic motifs in glass.
