Information collected

  • Server and security logs. When a page is requested, the web server records technical information: the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser and device type, and the page that led there. This is used to keep the site secure and working. The logs are held by the hosting provider. The legal basis is legitimate interests, which here means running and securing the website.
  • Cookies. The site sets one essential cookie that remembers the cookie choice. See the Cookie Policy.
  • Messages. Anyone who uses the contact form provides a name, an email address and the content of the message. These are used to reply, and are kept for as long as needed to deal with the message and any follow-up, then deleted. The legal basis is legitimate interests in answering enquiries.

The site does not use analytics or advertising tools, and does not knowingly collect any other personal information. Information is not sold.

Photographs

Photographs of buildings and windows are published for reference. If a person can be recognised in a photograph, or the owner or keeper of a building has a concern about an image, a request to blur or remove it can be sent using the contact form and will be dealt with promptly.

Who information is shared with

Information is shared only with the service providers that run the site, such as the hosting provider, and where the law requires it. The hosting provider processes server logs on behalf of the site operator.

Transfers outside the UK

The hosting provider may process information outside the UK. Where it does, the transfer relies on safeguards required by UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
